Scientist and a pioneer in the study of electric and luminescent phenomena (1788–1878). ALS in French, signed “Becquerel,” one page both sides, 6.25 x 8, November 3, no year. Letter to educator Achille Comte. In part (translated): “I went to see Mr. Nigard who told me that the Minister had inquired as to whether the response of the University Council relative to my affair had arrived. I pointed out to him that this response was recorded in the minutes…and that it met my desires.” Reverse of the second integral page is also addressed in Becquerel’s hand. In fine condition, with unobtrusive intersecting folds.
