18th. century yellow-green jade carving in shape of an ink receptacle.The upper part is carved in high relief featuring a dragon. Between the dragon extremities are small basins for holding the concentrated ink. The back has incised an archaic seal. This is a masterly hand carved jade with minute details in shape of a receptacle-container used by a scholar for calligraphy. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD". Estimated value: $3.000.
