Antique spear point Bowie knife with heavy leather sheath approx. 12” overall with a 7-1/2” blade marked “Cast Steel Bowie Knife” in oval on blade, “James Rodgers & Co. Celebrated Make. Sheffield” on ricasso and partially visible etching “ . . . . . . at hand”. The knife is in overall good condition with a grey patina, scattered staining and pinprick pitting on the blade, clear markings, partially visible etching as previously noted; simple cross guard, six pinned dark horn scales on the grip with elongated pierced plaque; plain grip mount; sheath is overall good and made of thick harness leather with sinew stitching; scroll initials “FY” appear on the front of the piece. A substantial spear point by a well-recognized maker. Ex-George Taylor collection. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
