19th. century scholar's wood brush holder decorated with inlaid, iridescent mother of pearl featuring fabulous flowers and birds . The hexagonal brush holder does not have nails or glue for holding the parts together, only decorative brass plaque on upper and lower corners where the facets are joining. The inlaid mother of pearl decorations have gold and silver iridescent hues and their carving is unexcelled. Size: 8" X 7" (20 cm. X 18 cm.). Panel width: 4" (10 cm.). Estimated value: $4000. There is a pair mate for this brush container and the pair is sold at $3200.
