<td width="100%">
19th. century jadeite carving in high relief on a plaque with pierced, open work featuring a dragon and a facing phoenix bird. A square opening in the center is partly covered with lotus flower, buds and dendrils. The obverse is slightly convex, while the reverse side is flat and a central panel features a blooming cherry tree, mountains, a bird and the sea waves.
The jadeite plaque has a variety of colors starting from yellowish green to deep apple green. This is a superior handcarving with intricate details indicating that the artist did not shortcut this work in any way. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of collectors textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors.". Estimated value: $4.000.
