19th. century jadeite carving plaque with very intricate high relief decorations. The obverse side features a phoenix bird holding a sprig of ling zhi and on the opposite side, a dragon. The reverse side features an oval plaque containing a flying bird, giant lotus branch with flower, mountains and sea waves. This carving is a master lapidary creation done in greenish-yellow jadeite with apple green speckles. Length: 5.5" (14 cm.). Width: 4" (10 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of collectors textbook: "Jade 5000 BC to 1912 AD". Estimated value: $5.500.
