Antique early Winchester Model 1892 lever action rifle, .38 WCF cal., 24” octagon barrel, patina finish, wood stocks, #27144. This gun is in overall untouched out-of-the-attic condition and came from an old Montana ranch. The metal surfaces show a dark brown patina with scattered areas of erosion and pitting, particularly at the muzzle and on the left side of the frame; the bore is somewhat rough, the action is good and the markings are clearly visible; the wood fore stock is in overall good condition with a couple of mars and scratches while the butt stock is good overall but with more wear and use and shows more exposure to the elements with some drying cracks at the butt plate and scattered nicks, mars, scratches and a couple compressions (may have been in a scabbard which protected the fore stock but left the butt stock more vulnerable). A classic looking Winchester that was a working person’s companion for many years. Est.: $1,200-$1,800.
