Antique wrought iron crane for the fireplace, American 18th C. This wrought iron fireplace crane is an outstanding example with seldom-seen long twisted buttress and great patina. Crane is made of fully one-inch-thick bars with very large hook to hold big heavy kettles. Handmade wrought iron cranes for the cooking hearth were an essential accessory in antique American homes. 37.5W x 21H with 16 inches of twist, all handwrought and still perfect. It is a companion piece to our smaller crane #325806 -- both having come from the same 18th C. New England house. Check out our other antique fireplace accessories. Also we have available other items for Old House Restoration: 18th century nails, wrought iron hinges and gudgeons large and small, wrought iron hooks including a swivel, exterior house facade of Federal swag design, etc. -- please inquire.
