Antique Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, #2892, .32-40 CF cal., blued 26'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights marked with the maker's name and address in two lines on top flat, and ''32-40'' at breech; blued full-length under-barrel magazine tube; blued receiver is marked ''Model 1894''/-Winchester-/Pat. Aug. 21, 1894.'' on top tang; case hardened hammer, loop operating lever, and crescent buttplate; oil-stained walnut forestock and buttstock. Mfg'd 1894, first year of production. Condition is very good: the steel parts show a smooth gunmetal gray-brown tone with occasional darkening and discoloration. Stocks are sound with scattered roughness and use/handling marks. Action is smooth; bore is clean with distinct rifling. A John M. Browning design, the '94 was Winchester's first smokeless powder lever action rifle, and remains in production today. Est.: $600-$900.
