<td width="100%">
This is a beautiful embossed and die cut Valentine's card in Art Nouveau style, dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s. A heart shape pulls outward from the back section to make the card 3 dimensional. The heart has an embossed, lilac colored frame surrounding a dreamy child who is picking pink dogwood from a tree. The heart is adorned with purple flowers and there is a large 4 leaf clover at the top center. The back piece is also embossed, lightly tinted in pink and green, with gold trim. On this part, behind the heart, is inscribed in gold print: "To greet thee." Affixed to the back piece with a tiny brass rivet is a large art nouveau style flower in mauve colored paper. This rivet might have been a hole from which to hang the card. On the back of the card is a cardboard prop; this is where it is signed "To Henry Grabe. From Guess" in pen apparently dipped in an inkwell. In pencil, on the back of the card itself, are the numbers "800" (or "80C") cicled and under that "0101"; just above these is "$3.50" also in pencil. I don't know if these numbers are significant or not. As to condition: The card is made of cardboard. The two "feet" on which it rested on a table were bent; there are creases on both. A couple of the very tips of the die cut design were also bent and show evidence of that. There is a little wear to the gold paint along the outer edge and a bit of wear along the bottom edge of the purple flowers.
