Antique Turn of the Century UHL Grapes Leaves & Lattice Crock Pitcher, pattern 39, unmarked, measures 8'' x 5.5'', small chip on bottom, salt glazed, FYI: The UHL Pottery Company was founded by German immigrants August and Louis Uhl in 1849. The business was first located in Evansville, Indiana and then later moved to Huntingburg, Indiana, because of a better source / quality of clay, in 1908. UHL Pottery primarily produced utilitarian wares like crocks, jugs, and other vessels. The pottery remained in business until 1944 when it closed its doors.
