<td width="100%">
A large and impressive antique oil painting signed A. Courtois (French or Flemish?). This still-life composition depicts boxes of strawberries arranged with a white bowl and lidded, blue and white terrine. The artist has a wonderful "loose" painting style that adds to the work's appeal. The colors are soft muted.
<p>
This late 19th C. oil on canvas was discovered in Belgium, it is set in a thick, dramatic antique frame, likely original to the work. The painting has been professionally cleaned to remove the dirt and dust that had accumulated over the years; it shows no signs of over painting or repair. The frame has a few small chips, cracks and losses, typical for a work of this age. The ornate frame is very deep and richly crafted; in fact the framed work weights nearly 30 pounds.
<p>
The framed painting measures approximately: 32.5" x 29"
<p>
Unframed the canvas measures approximately: 20" x 16.5".
