Antique Smith & Wesson No. 1 2nd Issue Tip-Up Spurtrigger Revolver, #59331, .22 RF cal., 3-3/16" octagonal barrel marked with maker's name and address on top, has fixed ejector rod at front, lower barrel release pushbutton; plain round 7-shot cylinder with 1855-59-60 patent dates; brass frame with top barrel hinge, removable left sideplate (scratched "Me" (?), integral spurtrigger sheath and gripstraps, 2-pc. varnished rosewood grips. Backstrap inscribed "W.B. Cooper from Allie." Mfg'd ca. 1860-68 . Condition is near fine retaining no barrel blue but smooth gunmetal gray, 98% tarnished silver, sharp edges and markings. Grips retain most original finish with wear at butt sides, quarter-inch chip at right bottom. Action is crisp, bore bright showing occasional light erosion and fine rifling. Interesting to speculate on the backstrap inscription. Est.: $300-$400. (Antique)
