Rare Antique Breechloading Spurtrigger Single Shot Pistol, unmarked but by Bacon Mfg. Co., #2012, .32 Short RF cal., 3.75'' octagonal barrel marked ''2012'' on bottom, pivots left for loading/extraction; brass frame is unmarked, has integral spurtrigger sheath and flat-bottom gripstraps marked ''2012'' at butt, two-piece varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. early-mid 1860s in only 800 qty., with blued barrel. Condition is very good retaining no original finishes; barrel is dark brown showing occasional light erosion (apparently was not marked originally), brass shows a lovely deep patina. Grips fit well with smooth wear and finish. Barrel hinge is secure; action is smooth; bore shows black-powder etching and vestigial rifling. This is a very rare Bacon pistol, with its unengraved brass frame and low production numbers. Est.: $300-$500. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
