A beautiful piece. Speculative but wonderful.

We offer a truly magnificent vase that was brought to North America by an immigrant Russian family in the early 1920s. According to this titled family it lived in their palace on the Neva for years before the Revolution.

As it is not marked, and we are uncertain whether it was made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory or as so many other pieces of porcelain in the 19th century it could have been made by Meissen, Sevres, le Porcelain de Paris or one of the other factories that cattered to the wealthy during the 19th century.

It has birds painted on one side and on the other a woman gathering reeds and standing on a rock by a river. The paintings are well done. The gilding too is exquisite and is thick and lavish.
A terrific piece of history that if it could talk could recount tales of lavish balls and horrific deeds.
