Movement, exuberant color and flowing design, these are the specific attributes of Mattise. For ten years he worked painstakingly in the Louvre copying materpieces for the French goverment. He learned all that the masters could teach him. But that was only the beginning. He began to experiement and became one of the originators of the "Modernist Movement" There is a thrilling reaction at the sight of a Matisse canvas. This antique print is on paper and was made in 1937. Unframed and signed in the matrix by National Committee For Art Appreciation. This is a 1937 original print from the National Committee For Art Appreciation headed by Eleanor Roosevelt. The prints were made and then the project was abandoned and the collection was put in a warehouse for over twenty five years. These lithograph prints were discovered in 1962 and are considered to be of the highest quality.
