Antique Ornate European Single Shot Parlor Pistol, unmarked as to maker or origin, #758, 5.5mm/.22 RF cal., 9'' octagonal barrel with crowned muzzle and dovetailed front post and notched rear sights, has ser. no. at bottom; enclosed action shows deeply-cut floral engraving and matching central hammer with integral recoil shield; steel fittings include deeply-engraved finger-spur trigger guard, matching fluted buttcap with raised skull-cracker; varnished burlwood halfstock is deeply and ornately carved in a leaf-and-running vine motif showing approx. 90% coverage. Condition is very good showing no original metal finishes (perhaps originally left bright) but overall gunmetal gray-brown (moderate oxidation to barrel). Stock has sharp carving, lovely grain and color, and approx. 70% thin original varnish. Action is smooth; smoothbore shows overall black-powder pitting. Est.: $500-$750.
