Antique National Arms Co. No. 2 ''Crab Claw'' Single-Shot Spurtrigger Derringer, #6669 (or 6999), .41 RF cal., 2'' teardrop-shaped barrel with blade front sight, marked ''National Arms Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.'' on top flat, twists to side on bottom hinge for cartridge loading/extraction; iron frame has integral spurtrigger sheath and ''bird's head'' gripstraps, right-side barrel release button, hammer with distinctive knurled split-spur sighting notch; two-piece checkered and varnished walnut grips. Loose floral engraving appears on sides of barrel, frame and backstrap. Mfg'd ca. 1865-70, likely with full-blued finish. Condition is very good. Barrel retains strong traces of original blue at top flat and bottom hinge screw; frame is smooth and clean with sharp markings and engraving. Grips are sound with deep checkering, light highpoint wear, and 60% original varnish. Action is smooth; bore is clean with sharp rifling; barrel hinge is tight. This original short 2'' barrel National derringer is considered scarce. Est.: $450-$600. (Antique)
