Antique Montenegrin Model 1870 Gasser Double Action Military Revolver, by Leopold Gasser of Wien, Austria, #18540, 11.2mm CF cal., 5" round barrel has tall bead front sight and hinged ejector rod assembly (marked "48"); fluted 5-shot round cylinder (marked "48") has long lead-in slots; solid frame marked "(crown)/NI" (King Nicholas I of Montenegro) at top strap, "L. Gasser/Wien/Patent/Neu Modell" over "(apple pierced by an arrow)" over "Guss Stahl" (cast steel) at left lug, "(star)/Y", "(crown/R" and "18540" right lug, has right-side hinged loading gate, separate loop trigger guard, integral bag-shaped gripstraps with lanyard ring at butt, 2-pc. checkered walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1880s. Condition is good retaining no original finish, being overall gunmetal gray with scattered erosion, dings and mostly legible markings. Grips show much wear to checkering; lanyard ring replaced. Action functions single-action only but does not turn cylinder; bore shows general light erosion and very good rifling. Est.: $700-$900.
