Antique Large-Bore Martial-Style Flintlock Pistol, Perhaps of Indian Origin, NVSN, 12 bore/.72 cal., 9" tapered round barrel without sights, and Sanskrit-like mark at top of breech; large English-style lockplate with rounded/pointed tail has a Sanskrit-like sunken mark under the integral pan, "swan neck" cock; brass fittings are the loop trigger guard, oval buttcap with lanyard ring, two sideplate screw escutcheons, rectangular barrel key escutcheon, nosecap. This large, heavy and crude pistol dates from the 1800s even to the early 1900s. Condition is very good having age-toned metal. Stock is sound having a few light dings and gouges of likely colonial military use. Action is strong and crisp, smoothbore is clean showing scattered light erosion. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)
