All Original Authentic 19th Century Yi (Choson) Dynasty Korean Duiju (Rice Chest) from Kyonggi Province. This tuiju (rice chest) was selected from a recent antique expedition to Korea as a very fine example of the sturdy design you expect to find in rice chests. It is made entirely of a thick, handsome red pine wood. That was the only wood Korean royalty would use in the construction of their palaces. It is very unusual to see lattice work on a rice chest, and that adds to the collectability of this piece. Korean furniture artisans from the Yi (Choson) Dynasty are renowned for their selection and utilization of wood grains, and for their metal designs. This quiet work of art is modestly adorned with Buddhist symbols. One look at this piece and you will know why Korean Antiques are widely regarded as the world's very best. I would be happy to email you, upon request, more detailed photos of all the sides, back, top, bottom, and interior. Excellent Condition. 20"(50cm)h x 39"(99cm)w x 23"(58cm)d
