All Original Authentic Rare Pear Wood 19th Century Yi Dynasty Korean Bandaji (Chest) from Cheju Island. Chests from Cheju Island are highly collectible and sought after items, and this one was selected from a recent antique expedition to Korea as a very fine example of the appealing, rugged, vigorous and folksy Cheju style. It is an especially rare type, as it is made from pear wood for the visible panels (top and front), and pine for the other panels. It also has 3 drawers inside. Korean furniture artisans from the Yi (Choson) Dynasty are renowned for their selection and utilization of wood grains, and for their metal designs. This piece is in the unique Cheju style characterized by beautifully rough and wild ironwork. One look at this piece and you will will know why Antique Korean Furniture is widely regarded as the world's very best. We will be happy to email you, upon request, more detailed photos of all the sides, back, top, bottom, and interior. Excellent Condition. 30.5"(77cm)h x 35"(90cm)w x 18"(46cm)d
