Antique Japanese Bronze Yatata, Calligraphy ink and brush sets originating in medieval Japan to provide a carrying box for the ink cotton and includes a long shaft for holding the brush. The shaft also provided a brush 'rest'. The idea of ink saturated cotton appeared in the early 1100's and by touching the cotton with a brush, it was ready to use to write. By enclosing the cotton it was possible to carry the set around without risk of spilling the ink. This wonderful piece is decorated all over design featuring leaves and vines in high relief with a stylized animal on top front of the brush holder. Beautiful naturally aged patina, measuring 11'' in length, 3'' high.

Items not paid for upon the non pay warning, will be relisted for resale within 10 days. You represent that you are over the age of 18 and can enter into legal contracts. Any Bidder that has never purchased from us, may be asked for credit card information prior to Approval To Bid.
*** The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser, regardless of the time the bids were placed. In the event of a tie between bidders, the auctioneer shall have the sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. If any dispute arises after sale, the Company's sale record shall be conclusive in all respects.
