<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> Exquisite Japanese Porcelain!</em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> This fine porcelain tea service was made in Japan in the early 20th century. Each of the pieces is individually handpainted with a different motif. The same theme runs through the entire set with Mt. Fuji in the background and various birds at rest or in flight. Exquisitely painted on thin porcelain, each piece is an individual work of art. Very fine brush work, gold highlights and beading along with brilliant color and the thiness of the china makes this a truly wonderful set. This is a pristine set with no flaws found. This was probably done between 1910-1915 in a small workshop. It is done in European style but not meant for export as there is no JAPAN or NIPPON mark. It must have been bought privately in Japan and brought back by a traveler. It is marked Castle China with a teacup emblem, Hand painted underneath. The entire set consists of :
6 plates 7",
6 cups,
6 saucers,
1 creamer with lid,
1 sugar bowl with lid,
1 Teapot with lid,
24 pieces in all including the lids.
The saucer is unusual in that it has an upturned edge, probably reflecting the then passing custom of sipping from the saucer. I have been informed that this is Kutani porcelain in the Satsuma style. </td></tr><tr> <td> </td></tr><tr> <td>Reference #: tst10</td></tr><tr><td>Condition:Excellent</td></tr><tr><td>Year:ca1910-1920</td></tr><tr><td>Country:Japan</td></tr><tr><td>Title:Antique Hand Painted Japanese Tea Set 24 Pcs</td></tr><tr><td>Type:Satsuma</td></tr><tr><td>Location:Shasta Lake CA 96019</td></tr></table>
