This green transfersware teapot came from an estate sale with items over 75 years old! This teapot may well be a forerunner of the popular Royal China Currier and Ives blue transferware teapots produced in the mid-20th century.<p>

The teapot has the same body design as the Royal China teapots--it measures 10 1/8 inches from the handle to the elongated spout. The teapot is 3 1/4 inches high and has a 4-inch base. The spout itself is 2 1/4 inches, and the handle itself is 2 1/8 inches. The base is unmarked.<p>

This teapot has a flower and leaf design which may be either the petunia or the dogwood. This design encircles the teapot around both the top and the sides and kisses the lid for a very symmetrical look! This design is original and may be English: it is not taken from a Currier and Ives print. It is doubtful that Royal China of Sebring, Ohio is the maker of this item.<p.

The teapot shows its age with crazing, especially on the inside. Otherwise, the body and pattern is in very good condition!<p>

Royal China of Sebring, Ohio produced a line of dinnerware and servingware with scenes from Currier & Ives prints from 1950 to 1986 to be given away as a premium at A&P markets. It also was sold at department stores.<p>

The original Currier & Ives lithograph prints of pastoral American scenes, were produced in the 1850s. Nathaniel Currier, who set up his own successful lithography shop, was introduced to James Merritt Ives in 1852. Currier hired him to administer the business, ...
