Really nice single girandole in a very unique design. It starts out with a marble base and an open work vase holder comprised of three classical mask heads with acanthus leaves on top. This girandole is form the Wentworth estate in Fairfield, Maine. It is quite unique and often very hard to find. This one is in very good condition with an amethyst vase insert. I was able to find a very similar girandole on page 170 of the book 19th Century Lighting by H Parrot Bacot. It states that the glass was most likely made by the New England Glass Company. A pair of these would flank a central girandole on your fireplace mantel. This one is a single and it makes a dynamite vase or decorative accent. I could find a thousand uses for this ? on a window sill or mantel with flowers inside. Once again it is in very good condition, truly classical in design being a very nice example of 19th century early lighting. It measures 9 ½? at highest with the base 4 1/8? square and the top opening 4 ½? in diameter.
