This is an antique German hand cranked pump organ. The instrument is made from wood with a cast iron crank and cylinder holder. Much of the finish is present with the original stenciled graphics. This piece came from the estate of the Frawley Ranch in Spearfish, South Dakota. Patrick Henry Frawley was a lawyer who set up a successful law practice in Deadwood, South Dakota in the late 1800's. In 1890, he married the heir to the Centennial Farm between Deadwood and Spearfish. They began to buy farm land from unsuccessful farmers until they amassed nearly 5000 acres. The ranch operated by the family until it was sold to developers in 1998. The property was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977. The pump organ is in good condition. It measures 12" x 14.25" x 8".
