Antique German Damascus Drilling, by Imman Meffert, Suhl, #15567, 16x16x11mm, 26-3/4'' barrel, exposed hammer, finely engraved Germanic hunting scenes showing hunters in forested areas on right side shooting turkeys; left side shooting small deer from precipice. Trailing lock panels additionally engraved with what appears to be a dog hunting rabbits, and spaniels in a field with fence and farmhouse in background. Lower portion of triggerguard and lever finely engraved with grapeleaf motif; hinge area to frame similarly adorned but in a circular manner. Double gold banded barrels are marked in gold on game rib ''Imman.Meffert in Suhl''. Upper tang features pop-up keyhole sight for rifle barrel use. Checkered walnut stock with cheekpiece, and trap in butt exposes three holes for extra shells. Condition is about fine with light general toning to barrels, and one very small ding to left tube. Stock with light scuffs and dings and light to just moderate flattening to checks. Action is crisp, bores are at least fine. A remarkably adorned early cartridge Drilling. Est.: $1,800-$2,400.
