This vest is from circa the turn of the last century and is fully beaded front and back! Attribute to the Meskwaki (Sac and Fox) Indian Tribe. This beaded vest was traded by its original owner for a wood stove at a hardware store in Tama, Iowa during the 1920's. It was already “vintage” when traded in. Based upon the assessment of a bead expert, and the history of the piece, we determine this vest was made circa 1900. It comes with a handwritten statement about how and when it was acquired from the current owner (who inherited it from his father who was the owner of the hardware store). This beaded vest is in very nice condition for its age. However, the silk liner inside is almost gone. It would not hurt the integrity of the piece to not have the liner. Other than that, the vest is in good shape for its age, normal wear and tear expected. Truly a rare item of historical significance!
