<td width="100%">
Antique American pair of frames with folk art painted grain simulating flame maple, mid-19th C. Paint-graining on both antique frames is all original with no re-touching. Painted ochre background with brown swirls and gilt lip. Lip gilding was applied over gesso which has dried out and cracked away in several areas. Back of each frame bears handwritten signature of the artist who painted them in rural upstate New York. Pine molding has the inward-slanting flat form used in the mid 1800&#39;s at the same time as the more common ogee. Bare pine backs show rich antique patina. Outside 14.5 x 18.5, lip opening 10 x 14, one inch front to back, molding 2.5 width. Pairs of antique frames are hard-to-find.
