Antique Estate Heavy Gold Plate Pocket Watch
Antique Estate Heavy Gold Plate Pocket Watch, Hamilton 17 Jewel Movement, serial # on movement 347298, the face of the watch has some cracking and between the numbers 1 and 2 is the worst damage, the jeweler who made the watch was N. J. Battershell of Heyworth, IL, the heavy gold plate watch case is made by Fahys Watch Case Co. and has the Caduceus Trademark which was patented on March 28, 1899, serial # 7405232, the watch is engraved ''J. C. Cusey June 8, 1906'', I did find a J.C. Cusey in Paola, Kansas, he was a farmer/rancher there, I believe this watch was a given to Cusey from the Independent Order of the Oddfellows or Masonic Lodge because it has the 3 joined links of chain with the letters FLT in each respective link, they stand for Friendship, Love, and Truth, Cusey was the Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Kansas, FYI: ''Initial Marking: FWCCo Location: New York City, Carlstadt, New Jersey, Sag Harbor, New York Years of Operation: 1857-1931 The Fahys factory in Sag Harbor began production on October 20, 1881. One of the reasons for the move to Sag Harbor was that the Carlstadt factory was a frequent source of Malaria amongst the workforce.''
