This item is so unique, it really caught my eye.....but what is it?

This is an embroidered canvas wrapped around a board in a neat and tidy fashion with a metal bar attached to the front of it.....so is it a towel rack? Is it a tie rack? is it something that belongs in the clubhouse of a gold club? What is it? Well one thing is for sure.....it is unique and very interesting and beautiful.

The embroidery depicts a woman in a red flapper hat caddy-ing her own bag of golf clubs. Now this is an unusual subject matter for its time. Not many women played golf, nor would they caddy their own clubs. I believe there was a debate in the 1920 s about whether or not women could do sports as well as men or if they even should try.

It appears that this piece was made from a kit, there are lines and colors on the canvas.

The back of the piece is covered in parchment paper or paper bag. There is also a circular hanging device which is made out of rubber, I think it is a washer!?!?

The metal bar folds up and down.

Condition: This item is in good condition. While the artwork and the towel bar are in good condition, there is a little wear at the corners. but they do not detract from the beauty, function and uniqueness of the piece.

Dimensions: 9.5" tall x 15.5" wide.

Year: Maybe early 20th century.
