A very hard-to-find clock accessory for the clock collector....a clock shelf. Many clocks have survived history, but for some reason fewer of the shelves did. These shelves were useful for displaying a clock in a room where there was no mantel or mantle and table space was limited.

This beauty is in the Eastlake style. The brackets are a simple heart shape. The top shelf is very simple and straight. The backboard is where the Eastlake comes in. The incised carving features a floral motif with a geometric feel....a floral sprig. There is also a carved border on the backboard which also has a cutout skirt of alternating half circles and diamond points. Has nailed construction.

This shelf is quite versatile in that it need not be only for a clock. It could be used above a toilet to house necessities or in a living space to showcase collectibles. Shown with string used for hanging in shop.

Dimensions: 16" wide, 5" deep and 7" tall.

Condition: Very good. Normal aged wear as to be expected. One half circle on the skirt appears to be a replacement, but I barely noticed it (on the far right end). There are two large pre-drilled holes intended for securing shelf to wall - I believe this were built in when it was made. There are an additional two smaller holes in the backplate which may have been used to place added security to wall shelf.

Year: Ca. 1900.
