Barrel to approx. 18 ½", top of barrel is stamped "Laminated Steel”. Markings on lower trigger guard tang very thin (can only make out the number 42, no other stamping visible on frame and barrel. Forearm is shattered and missing wedge, appears to have been held in place possibly by a rawhide wrap indicated by change in patina on forearm section. Appears to be solid sheet not a wound around cord or leather strip. Presently held in place with electricians tape and maybe some type of glue (the way it was collected). Hammers and triggers work and show much use. Like the smooth bore trade gun, could shoot anything from lead balls, nails, rocks, etc. Collected many years ago at a Pawn Shop in Poplar, Montana on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. May have been used as a “Coach Gun” or possible Indian use as a “Blanket Gun”. Age and maker unknown. Does not require an FFL transfer.
