Antique Chinese Wood and Metal Clawfoot Lidded Spice Box Container. This gorgeous piece has a wooden outer box that is lidded and hinged. Inside are 2 small containers both have inset lids and outer lids to keep spices fresh. It came from China to its previous owner, Julia Ann Hieronymus, a brilliant young educator, who on March 25, 1825, opened Science Hill Academy Shelbyville, Kentucky. Today, Science Hill remains little changed. This piece measures approx. 10''L x 7''W and although the iner containers are dented, it has both etched and painted designs and is in good condition for it's age.
