Antique Bennington ceramic keyhole cover is a Federal period architectural rarity. This white glazed Bennington graniteware keyhole cover, made in the 1850s, is deeply molded, highly glazed, in perfect condition. Direct from a Greek Revival house in the town of Bennington, Vermont where all the doorknobs were also made of Bennington white graniteware ceramics. An exciting find for Federal antique house authentic restoration. (Do not confuse this antique Bennington with the current firm using the name "Bennington Potters". The original pot works ceased to exist 110 years ago and there is no connection whatever between the original and the new pottery. Antiquarians and Bennington collectors confine themselves to the pottery produced in the mid-1800s.)
