<td width="100%">
Fine antique Bennington ware milk pan with flint enamel glaze made by the Norton works, ca. 1850, Bennington, Vt. Large 10 in. diam. x 3 in. deep. Splendid condition with no cracks or repairs, only natural signs of use. Though pie plates are still common, most milk bowls such as this one were used to perdition and fine examples are no longer easily found. This has high glaze and beautiful creamy mottling in interesting formations. A prime piece for collectors of American pottery or antique kitchenware. (Do not confuse this antique Bennington with the current firm using the name "Bennington Potters". The original pot works ceased to exist over 110 years ago and there is no connection whatever between the original and the new works. Antiquarians and Bennington collectors confine themselves to the pottery produced in the mid-1800s.)
