Antique American Percussion Fowler, NVSN, 14 bore, unmarked 34" tapered round barrel made without sights; beveled lockplate with stepped rear has illegible markings under nipple bolster, is likely an English import; brass furniture includes trigger guard with finial front, long rear tang, shotgun-style buttplate with long top tang, nosecap, rear ramrod thimble; two iron thimbles retain the plain hardwood ramrod within the walnut halfstock. Mfg'd middle 1800s. Condition is good, the iron surfaces being deep brown with scattered erosion (heavy at nipple area), brass with dark age-toning. Stock is sound with occasional nicks and dings, battering and erosion at upper buttplate. Action works, smoothbore shows moderate black-powder erosion. Est.: $300-$500. (Antique)
