From the Lobi Tribe comes this strong sculpture. You will never find another like this at anywhere near this price. This is genuine African Sculpture and, unlike the vast majority of figures on the internet, it is not designed for the tourist trade. It is an authentic African antique sculpture that was used in a traditional context. 17.5"H (including custom wood base).

The Lobi people number 250,000 and live across Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast, and Ghana. They revere spirits known as Thil. Shrines are built to these spirits under the instruction of a sorcerer and placed on the roof or inside the home and are filled with objects such as this wood figure known as Bateba, which is believed by the Lobi to embody a Thil spirit.
