Anti-Nazi Broadside. Fort Mit Schlag,
Anti-Nazi Broadside. "Fort Mit Schlag," brightly colored, printed one side, 1933, 121/2 x 171/2, showing twelve cartoon scenes, each with a four-line rhyme of the dangers of Hitler's Nazi dictatorship: loss of liberty, chaos, burning of the Reichstag, fear, etc. Captions include "Oppose Hitler...He wants you as slaves...Beware of hollow phrases...Defend justice...Your victory is the Republic's victory...." Issued by the Republic Loyalists, this effort to avert dictatorship ended in failure; the vast majority voted to leave the League of Nations, and 92% voted for a single Nazi party, headed by Hitler. Printed in Berlin prior to plebiscite of Nov. 12, 1933. Unusual presentation for that year, with Hitler pictured as a cartoon character, and Nazis shown as goons. Eyecatching graphics for historical display. Minor 1" tape mend on verso, else very fine.
