<td width="100%">
Rosewood stereo opticon and magnifier. Marked E. & H.T. Anthony & Co., New York. A very interesting relic of early technology. ""Stereo views were being mass-produced in various numbers of series sets during the 1860s and 1870s. Of course the Civil War and the efforts of photographers like Matthew Brady lent themselves greatly to still more selections of stereo views. In Brady's case much of his graphic military work was financed by a New York firm headed by Edward and Henry Anthony. That highly successful firm went on to offer more than 900 different titles in the years that followed, usually selling them for about $3 a dozen."" - /ArticApril03/ReedStereoview.html
