TLS signed “Tony P.,” two pages, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 9, 1982. Letter to Shirley Andrews, in part: "The blood Perkinses and the surrogate one(s) have to hang tight and tough. I'm sure you are cha-cha-ing around already. Diet! So important especially for those of us (me, too—as of this April 4) over the fifty-year mark. I have become absolutely dedicated to the 'right' (whatever that is (one hears too much confliction on the subject)) diet in the last few years and I'm more and more convinced that it is everything. Funny, Jane was close to understanding all that in the last years of her stay on earth but she'd still not give up the sugar-added things that sneak around subtly on all market shelves. Anyway, thought you might not have put two+two and realized that the somewhat attractive and energetic youngsters one glimpses on the Calvin Klein activewear TV ads which flood the small screen these days are in fact our two and only; now that I point this out if you watch TV at all you may easily spot them. I hope you do as each time it gets run they earn forty dollars or so and frankly when you have a young wife and two fast-growing little zippers shooting through their clothes and shoes and lunch boxes…well, every forty dollar check from Calvin Klein helps. The kids ate $8.42 of lamb chops last night!!!…New with me? Well, I'm going back to Rollins to accept a Doctorate of some modest kind—the school needs the publicity right now and I'm glad to help. Not much work around for a hard-to-cast middle-aged ex-juvenile who looks younger than he really is, but that will always be to my advantage for the one or two roles that come around these days for which I am right, so I'm not complaining." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Perkins's own hand.
