ALS signed “Tony,” two pages, 7.25 x 10.25, personal letterhead, November 4, 1957. Perkins writes to “Mike,” in part: “Thanks for being interested enough to write me on that matter. It upset me a hell of a lot—I had no idea that Joe had called me—not even that he had been in town. For Pete’s sake. Why didn’t he call me at home? Anyway, I got with the publicity man on the play today (whom I had never even met at the time of the Big Party) and he said, such and such, that he’d had a lot of calls that day, etc. etc. I have scarcely met him—he didn’t know I knew Joe and so forth. So, I apologize for him…and I’m sorry that Joe was treated badly…I wouldn’t write a letter like this to anyone else in Hollywood or anywhere. You’ve always been swell to me and I’ve appreciated everything you’ve done beginning with giving me a ride on Sunset two years ago…The play is going fine…we open in Philly next Saturday, the ninth, at the Walnut. My new record is doing fine, this week puts me on the cover in December and what more could a red-blooded American Boy want from life.” In fine condition, with a faint rusty paperclip impression to the top left corner of both pages.
