Original 1865 stereoscopic photo, part of the ''War Views'' series by photography studio E. & H.T. Anthony. Photo number 3178, entitled ''A Dead Southern Soldier'' reads on the verso, ''as he lay on the foot passage called 'Fort Damnation'...taken the morning after the storming of Petersburgh, Va., April 2d 1865.'' Stereoview measures 7'' x 3.5'' and features two identical photographs aside each other, for the purpose of viewing it with special glasses for a 3-D effect. In very good condition.
