Scarce Antarctic ''Discovery Expedition'' autograph letter signed by 3rd Lt. George F.A. Mulock. Dated 27 March 1904, letter is written on ''Discovery Antarctic Expedition 1901'' letterhead. Mulock, who served as 4th Officer aboard the expedition's supply ship ''Morning,'' was transferred on 1 March 1903 to ''Discovery,'' replacing Ernest Shackleton as 3rd Lieutenant and Surveyor for the expedition. Written to his ''Aunt Ethel'' in black ink, letter reads in part: ''…we are having an excellent time here what with picnics etc & though there are no inhabitants to join us we get plenty of excellent sport…There is no doubt that this will prove one of the most successful Expeditions there have been & especially in the Geographical line…We have had a very comfortable & interesting time & I have made good use of my opportunity…'' Signed: ''George F.A. Mulock''. Card-style letter runs three pages with some dampstaining and a 3'' tear on page two. Good condition overall.
