Anson & Deeley’s patent, 12ga, double barrel shotgun, two barrel set, serial #20227. The first barrel measures 30” and shows “Von Lengerke & Detmold, US Agents, New York” engraved on breech. The bottom of this set of barrels are marked “Francotte” with Belgian proofs and engraved “Stevens-Martin Steel”, stamped “Not for Ball”. The gun shows double triggers, standard extractors. This set of barrels show 90-95% original blued finish with some losses at edges, some slight scratches. The action shows 50-60% original case hardening, the triggerguard shows 50% thinning original blue. The stocks are very good plus to near fine with crisp checkering and some expert cleaning to a satin finish with near perfect wood to metal fit. The action is tight, the bores near excellent. The stock measures approx. 14-3/4” from the front trigger to the end of the wood, and the original horn buttplate is retained. The extra set of barrels are serial numbered to match and measure approx. 27-7/8”, are also 12ga, with a false Damascus pattern and show New York agent’s mark with gold band at the breech. The second set of barrels show 90-95% brown and applied Damascus pattern with some areas of light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting and a small loss of finish. The bores are near excellent and an extra matching forend is also included. A very interesting set probably made between 1905 and 1920. Est: $2,500 – $5,000
