Publisher's original cloth bordered in blind on the boards, and lettered in gilt on the spine (now mostly rubbed off). Ex-library copy, with embossed stamp on the title page and call numbers on the subsequent page. A bit of very minor occasional foxing, else an exceptionally clean and bright copy. Housed in a custom quarter morocco over marbled boards book-back slipcase, lettered and tooled in gilt, and with five raised bands on the spine. This annual report, written by Edward F. Smith as Commissioner of Indian Affairs, is addressed to the Secretary of the Interior Columbus Delano, and contains numerous reports from various Indian Agents regarding the Indians located in their respective territories. Includes reports from Arizona, California, Colorado, Dakota, Idaho, Indian Territory, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Utah, Washington Territory, Wisconsin and Wyoming. An interesting report of Indian movements during the Indian War years, and the actions taken against them.
