Annie Oakley SP
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Perfect image of Annie Oakley looking no-nonsense with her rifle pointing downward, ready to raise it up at a moment's notice. Oakley inscribes the photo, ''For Mr. & Mrs. Marxum [?] / Yours Sincerely - Annie Oakley / 4/7/1913.'' Annie Oakley became famous when her future husband Frank Butler bet $100 that he could beat anyone in a shooting contest. He lost the bet to Annie, but won her heart. They set out performing their own act which included Annie shooting ashes off Frank's cigarette. They later joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West show in 1885. Signed photos of Oakley are notoriously scarce and come to auction only every few years. Large signed photo measures 5.5'' x 7.5'', elaborately wood-framed to a size 15.5'' x 17.75''. Light bend on right side of photo, not affecting image or signature, ever so slight wrinkling and discoloration along edges. Overall in very good condition.
