Two pages with integral address leaf, 7.75" x 9.75", Coppet, July, 1811, to Messieurs LeRoy, Bayard, and MacEvers in New York. This letter to this leading financial firm in New York has to do with business affairs, possibly regarding some property she owned in America. Madame de Staël was a very influential Swiss author living in Paris and abroad. Exalted in her time as one of the greatest women in literary history and the foundress of the romantic movement, history has not been so kind as she is nearly forgotten today. Also included in this lot is an Autograph Letter Signed by her son "<I>Auguste de Staël</B></I>", one page with integral address leaf, 7.75" x 9.5", Coppet, June 8, 1809, also to Messieurs LeRoy, Bayard, and MacEvers in New York regarding a business matter. Baron de Staël edited the complete works of his mother in seventeen volumes that were published in Paris in 1820 and 1821.
