Two first edition books: But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes by Anita Loos, hardcover with dust jacket, published by Boni & Liveright in 1928, signed and inscribed on the front pastedown in fountain pen, "Dorothy—I hope you enjoy reading my few thoughts—my love to you and Larry always—Anita," bearing the ownership signature of Dorothy Updike on the first free end page; and All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, hardcover with dust jacket, published by Little, Brown and Company in 1929, signed on the front pastedown in blue ballpoint by Lew Ayres, who played the lead role in the film adaptation of the great novel. In overall good to very good condition, with moderately heavy wear to both dust jackets, with significant chips, tears, creases, and tape repairs to All Quiet on the Western Front.
